We enjoy(?) today the 24 hour day. This is made possible by light at night (LAN). This same LAN causes light pollution (LP). This ha been a concern for astronomers for decades BUT because it was ONLY astronomers it did not matter. But LAN causes circadian disruption. LP sucks insects from habitat areas like a vacuum cleaner (Professor Gerhard Eisenbeis). So there you are - LP kills insects, no insects therefore no food for insectivores, which include house sparrow chicks and not just bats, no night then no nocturnal birds like whip-poor-wills and so on and so on - frankly I believe that by the time people realise the "hidden" harm being done it will be JTL - Just Too Late?
