Man and nature

We believe we are clever because we measure the technological progress of mankind and mistake this for humanity's progress
..
The equally false idea that we can dominate nature is forever in our media
.
In our minds
.
Then we look at the floods and tsunamis, the cyclones and the droughts, and know this to be absurd
.
And this childish idea of an escalating domination of nature is only because we do not use our common sense
.
Common sense says why would you want to?
.
Why would we want to deny the universe's inherent creative energy and purpose.
.
When we can recognize that nature is itself dynamic, creative, and growing.
..
Then these short sighted ideas of domination can be let go.
.
Then and only then can we serve nature instead of fighting her
.
A battle we are losing in every sphere we choose to think of
.
So many of today's "victories over nature" turn out to be disasters over time
.
Then we need no longer transcend it, but simply participate in it more fully.
.
And this is part of the bigger movement towards seeing ourselves as part of and not separate from nature
.
Sadly it takes so long for us to admit we screwed up
