Smell for marriage

Yes there was a time when Russian women chose their husbands by their smell.

At harvest time the young men working in the fields would take off their sweaty shirts and these would be given unseen to the young women, who would then chose their partner by his smell.

Strange?

Not really if you think how we do things today.
