The fanatic

Cannot be negotiated with

Whatever his cause he will not listen to you because he is too far gone in his grievances and righteousness

Whatever his belief there is no changing him while he is in the environment that feeds his fanaticism

There is no negotiation

There is also no easy answer as to what to do

If you keep on increasing controls in the name of prevention

The fanatic wins

If you do nothing the fanatic continues his murders and wanton violence

Essentially a better understanding of his psyche is important

More education and more attention to the inequalities in society

Fanatics come in all flavours

One thing is clear they thrive where inequality is rife

Globally inequality is greater than it need be

Address the inequalities and the fanatic has less space to move in

The less inequalities the fewer feeding grounds for those who would use these people

Most are uneducated and it is the educated who use them

Reduce the uneducated and you reduce the pool of martyrs

Time we acknowledge that our tactics are not the best

Current events make this a time of increasing inequality

We have been warned none of us can hide behind walls, they do not stop the fanatic

He must be met when he is young and be educated with values that from time immemorial speak to love and compassion

Reduce the inequalities and you reduce the attraction of fanaticism

A long journey but one we must ndertake with more consciousness of why we must do this
