Concentration

One of the great weaknesses of our times is the ability to concentrate.
.
To concentrate on issues that ought to intrigue us that is
.
Like where do we come from?
.
Why are we here?
.
What should my life be about?
.
Issues that most prefer to ignore
.
Most leave like to leave these to someone else to ponder
.
Most prefer porno, games, tv, sport, novels, shopping anything that diverts us
.
Anything that takes us away from thought of what we call 'serious things'
.
It is no accident that most electronic games require concentration.
.
They take us into a world of totally unimportant fantasy
.
A world of pushing buttons
.
Of instant results
.
Absorbing, diverting the mind
.
Taking the mind away from any more worthwhile pursuit
.
From anything that requires personal unaided concentration
.
Why?
.
Because it is difficult to concentrate without devices
.
By just controlling the mind
.
Try this simple exercise
.
Select any word, object or idea 
.
Then hold it firmly before your mind for five minutes
.
To the exclusion of anything else

Want to be embarrased?

Then time how many seconds you lasted before other thoughts came into your mind

Bet it was seconds not minutes
.
If this can be done though then it should be kept up for six months
.
Always repeating the exercise at the same hour.
.
This will not be easy
.
Because our minds have a tendency to fly away from any point selected
.
A tendency to divert to something more pleasant
.
Seemingly more advisable and useful
.
Even a tendency to move to something else that is unpleasant
.
A tendency to total passivity
.
A mental blank
.
As we have said many times before concentration is the key to many areas of human potential

By potential we are talking about personal and collective evolution of consciousness

Higher levels of consciousness allow us to understand nature better

To access insights to our world, other worlds, inner worlds so many things.
.
All areas beyond where we are today require this ability to concentrate

This is because to reach and create contact with our higher souls we must be calm and focussed
.
Beyond human experience today is a world of love and harmony 
.
An area that we would all like to inhabit

Like anything worth attaining it requires effort and discipline
.
