DNA

Perhaps the integration of exogenous DNA into the human genome is on-going and purposive.
.
The great epidemics of  previous agricultural civilizations may have contributed important genes
.
Genes bearing adaptive utility for humans living in dense populations
.
Humans living and carrying out civilized lifestyles.
.
In particular, non-lethal viral diseases like measles, mumps, and chicken pox
.
Which were pandemic until the era of vaccines
.
These might comprise an important alternative transmission system for genetic material.
.
Perhaps they are our symbiont's
.
Having adapted with us into a mutually beneficial relationship.
.
If so, eliminating them could be dangerous.
.
The precise consequences are hard to predict
.
Perhaps though it has something to do with the alarming rise in autoimmune diseases and allergies over the past thirty years.
.
Yes we should proceed with care
.
Playing with things we do not understand is necessary to advance science and our understanding
.
It is also fraught with danger
.
Dangers that might not be clear for many years
.
Like the current alarming increase in autoimmune diseases.
.
Diseases that the medical establishment likes to look at one by one
.
In isolation from each other.
.
Ever reductionist
.
Not wanting to view the scene holistically
.
Not wanting to observe the patterns emerging.
.
Stuck behind walls of so called specialisation
.
What a price we are paying
.
An explosion of problems relating to our previous actions.
.
Actions taken without thought of their relationship to other parts of the system
.
Our ignorance of how everything is interdependent
.
Nothing is unrelated and yet medical science still behaves as if they are.
.
By definition this must create ever more problems .

Sadly this is already apparent.
