Why are we here?

What are we offering our young?
Most adults do not know why they are here
Just consuming their way through life
And what does that say to the younger generation?
Fortunately they know innately that there has to be a reason why they are here.
For the most part they have idealism
They know intuitively that there is a way the world is supposed to be
They know there should be a role for themselves to play in that world
Yet most adults have not even asked themselves that question let alone formulated a response to it
That first inquiring question
Why am I here?
Beaten already into accepting consumption as life's end purpose
The machine grinding them into apathy
For those who do ask the question seriously
It generates an urgency to find an answer
What is that purpose?
It makes the standardised answer of the machine society unacceptable
How can any thinking person believe we are just here...........to consume, to fit in.
We are not just here by off chance or accident.
We are here for a reason.
When we offer our nonsense to the young it breaks many
It angers others
It causes others to slip into drugs
Into depression
Escapism
Self destruction
Can we wonder they are hostile
Do we even notice?
Do we care or shrug our shoulders and tell ourselves the famous "they" should do something about it absolving ourselves of any responsibility?
.
No we cannot.
.
We did not like that our own parents taught us little
.
That they knew little and had not thought about these issues
.
Every generation needs and expects ideas about the meaning of life
.
What are you able to tell your children?
.
This is difficult if you have never thought about these issues yourself
.
In these difficult times it is easier in your own life if you have an idea about why you are here
.
Like having a map or GPS navigation system makes travel easier
.
For sure in these times having clarity for yourself is important as it removes stress
.
A simple response is that we are here to learn and grow
.
That we all of us have many, many lives
.
That each life is to learn one or two major lessons
.
To move from selfishness towards altruism
.
And as we as individuals move along this road so do our cultures and societies
.
That is our purpose to be a conscious support in this journey.
.
The mechanism that impels this is karma and reincarnation
.
Karma effects everything we do
.
It brought us to where we are today
.
What we do and think today will determine what we experience tomorrow.
.
We are all individually and collectively responsible for what comes our way.
.
Our thoughts and actions determine what we experience now and in the future.
.
And this is what the young want to know.
.
There are no accidents, although this one is difficult for many to accept
.
That we are here to help create a nicer fairer world where we all share and cooperate with each other.
.
And for the record the violence of nature today in a very real sense reflects our recent actions and behaviour.
.
It will in the coming period show clearly that our selfishness is unacceptable by impacting each and every one of us one way or another.
.
Shaking us out of our denial and our apathy.
.
Our lives will never be the same again as nature impacts us all
.
Our recent actions exposed for the selfish behaviour they represent
.
Our young are inheriting this world that in a very real sense we have created for them.
.
What can we do to help them understand?
.
What can you do to help?
.
What can we say to them?

A good starting point is that life is about being the best we can every day with whatever comes our way.
.
And that yes all of us are here to make our contribution to making this a better fairer world.
